The project
“Before You Believe It” starts from something everyone can observe in their own phone: we share faster than we verify, because nobody ever taught us the basic moves. This site teaches them — ten reflexes, hundreds of training cases — for free and in seven languages, because rumours don't stop at borders.
The organisation
The site is published by Association ODERSA, a French non-profit association (loi 1901). Its mission: making education accessible to everyone, free of charge and with no strings attached — academic, professional, cultural and civic. Critical thinking is one of its pillars; this site is one tool for it, alongside other digital and in-person actions.
The method
The 10 reflexes build on public media-literacy frameworks (detailed in the credits). The training cases are fictional, realistic, reviewed, and published with their data under an open licence. When we get something wrong, people write to us, we check, we fix — the correction log is public.
